Overview:

To lead, motivate, and manage the staff members of Retail and to provide a positive working environment for them. To ensure the profitability and continued growth of Retail Operations at above average levels and to provide overall control, administration and professional leadership.

Responsibilities:

Hire and terminate retail staff; provide training and motivation through frequent meetings, one-on-one talks, seminars, workshops, sales courses and contests. Training includes product knowledge, customer service, selling skills, and personal development. A special emphasis on training and orientation of new staff is required. To work in all the retail stores to ensure a continuing first hand understanding of the operations and to observe problem areas for focused management efforts.



Co-ordinate, with the other Directors, and develop complimentary marketing and advertising for Retail. Also marketing and advertising to use in the Flyers, Catalogues, special mailings and promotions and other in store and seasonal activities.



Manage the assortment, display and pricing of inventory in the retail locations to maximize sales and profitability.



Attend weekly managers' meetings; make monthly presentations to the management team as to the financial performance of Retail.



Maintain sales growth in all areas of the business while maximizing the gross profit and customer service.



Operate within the inventory guidelines set with the President.



Develop, lead and execute challenging sales contests.



Co-ordinate with the Director of Commercial Sales the company's pricing policy and strategy within the retail operations.



Meet all the "expectations of a Director" and to set an impeccable example in all areas of the company for all staff.

The Director of Retail is responsible, with authority for:



 initiating action to prevent problems;

 documenting quality problems;

 contributing to problem solutions;

 verifying implementation of solutions;

 controlling further processing when a problem is identified.



The Director of Retail is asked to contribute to our environmental sustainability by being conscious of energy use, water consumption, paper use and recycling programs. If there are any environmental concerns, individual staff members must report these concerns to their supervisor and, where applicable, address the concern at the time they see it happen.



Compensation:

$90++

Requirements:

Experience: At least three years in a retail sales management position utilizing advanced merchandising and display techniques.



Education: A post-secondary education or equivalent experience.



Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Well-developed ability to motivate and understand a broad range of personalities.
