Overview:

Under the direction of the General Manager Operations BC, the Operations Manager is responsible and accountable for leading and managing the Branch operations in order to achieve the Company’s mission and to implement and support the policies, goals, and objectives established by the President and management. Responsible for the management, development and direction of the branch’s daily business operations; ensuring branch activities support the safe, efficient and continuous functions of sales, maintenance, repair and fabrication of equipment.

Responsibilities:

1. Primarily responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day activities of the Branch operations and aligning with the objectives and directives of the General Manager, Operations and management.
• Plans, organizes and directs all Branch operational activities.
• Leads programs to build Branch capabilities.
• Ensuring that all costs and expenditures are managed and controlled such that the branch attains its budgeted profitability targets each month. Focus on attaining established monthly profit and absorption ratios.
• Ensuring that all employees are committed to providing a high level of customer satisfaction through the effective communication of performance standards required to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of product and related services.
• Demonstrates responsible asset management Parts and Equipment Inventories) and ensures that the branch attains its targeted ROA.
• Providing a safe work environment for all employees. Utilizes SIF as a KPI measurement for the branches success as it relates to Safety.
• Establishing key relationships with major customers in the branch area.
2. Drives future production and maximizes the Branch’s performance as it relates to profitability, environmental compliance, cost reduction, workflow, productivity, best practices, human resources and safety.
• Reviews Branch operating results, compares with established objectives, and takes the appropriate measure to enhance outcome and performance.
• Monitors and ensures compliance with all contractual customers, contractors and supplier agreements.
• Provides the leadership and resources necessary to support the development, maintenance and continual improvement of the Division’s Quality Management System and contributes to the creation and communication of the Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.
• Enforces Company policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures Branch compliance to performance standards and legislation.
3. Responsible for providing complete after-the-sale support of products the Company sells - Coordinates a whole range of services which provide continuing support to customers once a sale has taken place; much of this is done through direct and user contact and in the field product testing. Specialized areas of service include:

Requirements:

The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of an undergraduate degree in a related technical field.
The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the position. The ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services is essential to success in this role.
A minimum of 8 – 10 years’ experience within the mining/ industrial industry with a strong operations orientation is required.
