Responsibilities:

Sales Representative – Speciality Steel Products

Starting with inside sale responsibilities to learn the product mix, customers and the marketplace the ideal candidate will be moved into a Senior outside Sales position with a vision to be Branch Manager as your growth and success determine.

Our Client has been supplying specialty steels to Western Canada and the United States since 1892. Their lineage can be traced back to strong affiliations with British and European steel makers. Initially, the company stocked mining and tool steels to support the timber and natural resource industries. Gradually the range of steels was extended to include machinery and spring steels and stainless steel before WWII.





They are specialist suppliers of high grade steel and metal, including carbon and alloy machinery steels, an extensive range of stainless steels, including duplex grades, nickel alloys, iron bar, aluminum and bronze.



Processing services provided include bar sawing, trepanning, stainless plate profiling and plate sawing. Their suppliers are all mills of high repute with facilities that employ the latest steelmaking technology. As a result, their products are backed by the most advanced metallurgical and research facilities available.



Responsibilities:



• Growth of sales and gross margin for Metal products in the BC Marketplace



• Management of key account relationships and becoming the customer’s solution provider



• Engaging directly with potential customers to help them understand how the company's metal products will help them address their operational requirements



• Engaging with customers in their specification writing process for specific applications.



Qualifications:



The ideal candidate for this Vancouver-based role will be a professional sales person with experience selling the same or similar metal products. The candidate should have excellent customer service skills, a strong mechanical aptitude, be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail for contract negotiation and agreement specifics and a proven track record of sales and gross margin growth in their areas of responsibility. The candidate should also be comfortable with responding to bids and tenders.



Job Skills & Abilities



• 3 years of inside sales expertise and with 3+ years of experience selling the same or similar metal products

• Professional selling approach with a focus on relationship building and management

• Strong orientation toward sales and margin growth

• Ability to present thoughts clearly and concisely both in one on one discussions and through formal presentations

• Ability to complete bid and tender documents

• Team player with a strong work ethic

• Strong time management and computer skills

• Has a mechanical equipment aptitude and a general interest and knowledge of metal products.
