Overview:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Senior Project Manager will act as a mentor and leader for all direct reports, ensure all safety provisions and procedures are carried out, carry out effective job execution of assigned projects and ensure the reputation of The Company is maintained at all times by promoting respectful and courteous behaviour toward all clients, employees, visitors, contractors and others that may come in contact with you from time to time.

Responsibilities:

Champions and provides leadership that results in a safe work culture, is responsible and accountable for the safety of the
crews under his direction and must understand and accept the importance and legal liability of the role;
•Overall accountability for the efficient and profitable execution of the project, including full accountability for project
costs, revenue, scope changes, personnel and administration;
•Ensures the maintenance of an open and respectful relationship with all employees and union officials that supports a
Labour Relations Strategy linked with our Company’s vision of becoming an employer of choice;
•Executes projects in accordance with contract and Resource and Production Plans (RAPP) in respect of: Safety, Cost,
Productivity, Schedule, and QA/QC;
•Develop and maintain productive client relationships throughout relationship life cycle (pre-bid to site clean-up);
•Communicate and champion vision, mission, divisional strategy, targets, and successes;
•Conduct project reviews for safety, Quality Assurance and Operational (KPI) performance measures;
•Ensures completion of safe work plans/ hazard assessments and Field Level Risk Assessments with crew prior to job
commencement and follow-up throughout job to ensure awareness and compliance; expedite answers to any technical
safety questions;
•Takes corrective action to mitigate immediate hazards, where safe to do so;
•Ensures legislated unsafe work requirements (right to refuse) are enforced; Ensures safety incident documentation is
completed and submitted in a timely manner;
•Ensures completion of bi-monthly planned inspections and ensures the completion of follow-up activities including the
completion of all required documentation and submission of that documentation;
•Ensure required project resources (capital and human) are effectively allocated and optimized;
•Ensure contract management, billing generation and collection;
•Participate in negotiation of contracts, change management and claims;
•Update and maintain the system of internal controls which have been developed to satisfy Sarbanes-Oxley
requirements and other external reporting requirements for the processes which are in their area of responsibility;
•Develop monthly/yearly resource and revenue forecasting, budgets and cost reporting - ensuring accuracy and timeliness
of reports;
•Provide leadership in quality performance and ensure due diligence in client and regulatory compliance;
•Provide input and direction into bid strategy, including completion of bid reviews, approval and signoff as required;
•Provide input/review/consultation to estimating for input to bids related to site conditions and execution plan;
•Represent Company at industry associations and major project partnerships.


Compensation:

$200K+

Requirements:

•Minimum 10 years of relevant Project Management experience;
•Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in civil construction, working with major projects (experience in the Alberta Oilsands
is a definite asset);
•Post-secondary education (Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma) or equivalent Project Management experience. ie., P.Eng, C.E.T, R.E.T;
•Experience acting as a leader/role model for others (leads by example);
•Demonstrated ability to motivate, take responsibility, act ethically & with integrity;
•Demonstrated ability to execute complex construction projects within established timelines and on budget;
•Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective client relationships;
•Fundamental understanding of all relevant Employment-related legislation;
•Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills;
•Strong organizational skills, including time management, delegation & prioritization skills;
•Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
•Computer skills including working knowledge of common software applications;
•Knows and understands construction scope and objectives;
•Experience reading drawings and/or interpreting specifications;
•Knowledge of scheduling and planning.
