Overview:
Our Client, a leading heavy civil and mining construction company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to join their team. The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the preparation and execution of Area Maintenance in accordance with Business Unit requirements including liaising with client personnel and the appropriate Planner/s. The role supports the Maintenance Manager in delivering the maintenance services & break in work support to the respective Business Units.
Responsibilities:
• Compliance with safety and environmental systems, standards and legislative requirements, in relation to maintenance work preparation and execution
• Communication of, and encouraging participation in safety programmes and initiatives in liaison
• Ensuring that incidents occurring in any maintenance are reported in a timely manner and recorded accurately in line with the site procedure
• Ensuring that investigation of incidents / near misses that occur on any maintenance execution is completed in a timely and thorough manner
• Performing safety audits at the required frequency and to a high quality standard
• Conducting pre- maintenance meetings, maintenance progress meetings and post- maintenance meetings which include safety and environmental matters
• Ensuring that all resources engaged for maintenance execution are appropriately inducted and accredited
• Delivering maintenance for the Business Unit on time and to a high quality standard
• Maintaining a relationship with client Business Unit personnel and teams
• Supporting the Maintenance Manager in the delivery of the respective Business Unit KPI’s and working ratio target
• Reviewing actual hours and planned hours associated with maintenance execution, ensuring time sheets and work orders are reconciled
• Managing and coordinating changes in maintenance work order scope identified by Area personnel, including liaison with Business Units
• Actively promoting and improving the Alliance within the team and with the client
• Communicating closely with Planners / plant owners to review performance and progress of Maintenances
• Arranging and participating in maintenance preparation meetings and distributing minutes
• Reviewing program for the maintenance execution & confirm ability to meet duration constraints
• Communicating and resolving conflicts associated with maintenance programming
• Participating in quality and safety audits relating to maintenances
• Assisting in reviewing systems, processes and procedures for executing maintenances as required
• Managing the work on maintenances in conjunction with the appropriate team members, Including monitoring progress to programme, safety & costs on the maintenance & reporting on same to leadership
Compensation:
$100K+
Requirements:
• Trades or Mechanical Engineering background in a large resource-based industry
• At least 5 years of experience as a superintendent or similar role managing supervisors and maintenance crews in a unionized workforce involving various trades.
• Strong maintenance skill set
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional safety record is essential
• Personal commitment to ensuring safety and hygiene requirements are complied with and continuously improved upon.
