Overview:
Our client has manufactured home building products in Western Canada for over 25 years. Their product lines have evolved with science and technology advances, from old format products in their early years to energy efficient and very premium products now. Their products are designed for and distributed to a wide variety of climates, and have very positive market acceptance, with a number of Canadian manufacturing locations including the Okanagan.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for the overall management of production and shipping departments while ensuring products are built and shipped in accordance with established standards
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES - The Production Manager will be accountable for:
- the efficient execution of the production schedule to ensure schedule adherence and maximum production productivity through proper planning prior to execution of production schedule
- ensuring sufficient and adequately trained production labour force
- ensuring plant equipment is operational through design and execution of a preventative maintenance program
- ensuring production flow from raw materials through production and including shipping
- Accountable for optimum on-time delivery performance while meeting established quality standards
- hiring, evaluating & training hourly work force in a Union environment to achieve the above objectives, and terminating non-performing staff when necessary
- Administration of CBA including involvement in grievance procedures to the 2nd stage
- Adherence to capital and expense budgets through a system of regular monitoring and reporting
- Working w/ the Logistics Manager to ensure adequate raw materials are available prior to required production
- execution of the Company Safety Policies and active in the Company’s Safety Program
Other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
Compensation:
$65-$80K + bonus + Benefits
Requirements:
MANDATORY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- College / University graduate
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing management, ideally in a Union environment
- Demonstrated experience with either Lean Manufacturing or Theory of Constraints Techniques
- Experience in Logistics an asset
Between base salary, a discretionary bonus program and a solid Employee Benefits package, this role's total value could be up to $100K for the ideal candidate.
